MLB: Boston 11, Cleveland 6

BOSTON, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- Victor Martinez hit a grand slam in a seven-run second Saturday, leading Boston to an 11-6 win over Cleveland.

The slam by Martinez against his former team was his 23rd homer this season and gave Boston an 8-4 lead with one out in the bottom of the second, breaking a 4-4 tie.

Brian Anderson had three hits -- one a two-run homer -- and three RBI.

Dustin Pedroia and Dusty Brown hit solo homers, while Jason Bay hit an RBI single for the Red Sox, who have won the first three games in the four-game series.

The winner was starter Josh Beckett (17-6).

Shin-Soo Choo led Cleveland with three hits -- one a two-run homer – and three RBI.

Travis Hafner had two RBI, Michael Brantley one with Brantley and Luis Valbuena adding two hits each for the Indians, who have lost four straight.

The losing pitcher was starter Aaron Laffey (7-9).
