TORONTO, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Josh Gorges scored with 13 seconds left in overtime Thursday to give the Montreal Canadiens a 4-3 victory over Toronto.
It was a successful debut for Montreal Coach Jacques Martin, who takes over a team revamped from the one that struggled during the second half of last season and was swept by Boston in the first round of the playoffs.
Two of the newcomers -- Brian Gionta and Travis Moen -- scored for the Canadiens. Mike Cammalleri, signed as a free agent, added two assists.
Montreal trailed, however, until Glen Metropolit scored on the power play with 4:10 left in the third period. Carey Price made 43 saves for the Canadiens.
Matt Stajan scored twice for Toronto, which missed the playoffs last season for a franchise-record fourth straight year.
