CLEVELAND, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Mark Buehrle and two relievers combined on a four-hit shutout Wednesday, helping the Chicago White Sox beat Cleveland 1-0 for a doubleheader split.
The game's only run scored on Paul Konerko's two-out single in the top of the sixth.
Buehrle (13-10) gave up three hits in six innings. Reliever Tony Pena allowed one hit in two innings and Matt Thornton pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to earn his fourth save this season, for Chicago, which won twice in the three-game series.
Losing pitcher Justin Masterson (4-10) went the distance, giving up a run and four hits with two walks and 12 strikeouts.
The doubleheader split came on the day that the Indians told Manager Eric Wedge and his coaching staff they would be fired at season's end.
