Fanning wins ASP surf tourney in France

SEIGNOSSE, France, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Australian Mick Fanning won his second consecutive ASP pro surfing event Sunday when he beat Bede Durbidge in the finals of the Quicksilver Pro France,

Fanning, who won earlier this month at Lower Tressles in California, scored an 8.83 on one of his final waves and went on to win the heat by a score of 16.66 to 12.87

Surf was running 1-to-3 feet at Les Bourdaines.

Fanning is in second place in the Association of Surfing Professionals points race with 5,570 points. Fellow Aussie Joel Parkinson leads with 5,896. American C.J. Hobgood is in third place.
