MLB: San Diego 4, Pittsburgh 0

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Kevin Correia gave up six hits in seven scoreless innings Sunday, leading the San Diego Padres to a 4-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Correia (11-10) did not walked a batter and fanned five in 96 pitches.


When Pittsburgh put two men on in the bottom of the ninth, closer Heath Bell, San Diego's fourth pitcher, struck out the final two batters, earning his 39th save.

Oscar Salazar led San Diego with three hits and one RBI.

Adrian Gonzalez and Evert Cabrera had one RBI apiece, while a run scored on Ryan Duomit's third-inning throwing error for the Padres, who have won three of four.

Lastings Milledge had three hits and Brandon Moss two for the Pirates, who have lost 19 times in their last 22 games.

The losing pitcher was starter Paul Maholm (8-9).
