Israel's Peer tops Brianti in China final

GUANGZHOU, China, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Shahar Peer of Israel topped Alberta Brianti of Italy in straight sets Sunday, winning the Guangzhou Women's Open in China.

Peer, who was seeded No. 5, won 6-3, 6-4.

The win was Peer's fourth on the WTA tour.

Brianti, the eighth seed, played in her first tour final.
