MLB: Oakland 4, Minnesota 2

MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Brett Anderson and two relievers held the Minnesota Twins to two runs and five hits Saturday, leading Oakland to a 4-2 victory.

Anderson (9-10) avoided a big rally in seven innings with no walks and 11 groundouts in 108 pitches.

Michael Wuertz hurled a scoreless eighth and closer Andrew Bailey earned his 24th save with a scoreless ninth.

Cliff Pennington led Oakland with three hits and one RBI.

Rajai Davis, Kurt Suzuki and Eric Patterson each added one RBI for the Athletics, who had only six hits in the fifth win in their last six games.

Minnesota got one RBI apiece from Jason Kubel and Denard Span.

Brendan Harris had two hits for the Twins, who fell six games behind AL Central-leading Detroit.

The losing pitcher in his third major league start was Jeff Manship (0-1).
