MLB: San Diego 4, San Francisco 2

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Adrian Gonzalez hit a key two-run homer with three RBI Wednesday, leading San Diego to a 4-2 win over San Francisco.

The homer, his 37th this season, staked San Diego to a 3-0 lead with one out in the top of the third.

Gonzalez also hit an RBI single in the first.

Oscar Salazar's only hit was a solo homer, while Chase Headley added two hits for the Padres, who won twice in the three-game series against the National League wild-card hopefuls.

Winner Wade LeBlanc (2-1) surrendered two runs and four hits in seven innings.

Closer Heath Bell earned his 37th save with a scoreless ninth.

San Francisco scored on a two-run third-inning homer by Andres Torres.

Bengie Molina had two of the five hits for the Giants, who have lost three of four.

Losing pitcher Barry Zito (9-12) gave up three runs and six hits in five innings.
