Jones, Bergesen go on Orioles' DL

BALTIMORE, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones went on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday and pitcher Brad Bergesen was put on the 60-day DL.

Baltimore also called up five players from Class AAA Norfolk.

Jones, who has a sprained left ankle, has a .277 batting average with 19 homers and 70 RBI in 119 games. The club made his DL designation retroactive to Sept. 2.

Bergesen, who has a contusion on his left shin, was 7-5 with a 3.43 earned-run average in 19 starts.

The Orioles also transferred outfielder Lou Montanez from the 15-day DL to the 60-day list after surgery on his right thumb surgery. He had 10 hits -- one a home run -- in 49 at-bats in 18 games this season.

Baltimore also called up infielder Justin Turner, catcher Guillermo Rodriguez, and pitchers Bob McCrory, Chris Lambert and Chris Waters.
