MLB: Los Angeles Angels 7, Kansas City 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Bobby Abreu knocked in three runs for the Los Angeles Angels Sunday in a 7-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals.

Abreu singled in a run in the first inning and doubled in two more in the fourth, helping the Angels win for the fifth time in their last seven games and extend their AL West lead over Texas to 5 1/2 games. The Ranger lost in Baltimore 7-0 Sunday.

Erick Aybar tripled in a run, Mike Napoli drove in a run with a double and Howie Kendrick and Torii Hunter had RBI singles for the Angels.

Joe Saunders (12-7) worked 5 1/3 innings, gave up 10 hits and two runs and picked up the win.

Miguel Olivo homered for the Royals.

Luke Hochevar (6-9) yielded seven runs and nine hits in 3 2/3 innings in his sixth straight loss.
