COL FB: Ga. Tech 37, Jacksonville State 17

ATLANTA, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Jonathan Dwyer rushed for two touchdowns Saturday, powering 15th-ranked Georgia Tech's season-opening 37-17 rout of Jacksonville State.

He scored on a 74-yard run on the game's first play from scrimmage and a 5-yard run later in the first quarter, finishing with 95 yards on just seven carries, none in the second half.

Quarterback Josh Nesbitt went 6-for-11 passing for 141 yards with one touchdown and rushed for 93 yards on 14 carries with one touchdown.

Demaryius Thomas added 101 yards on four receptions for the Yellow Jackets (1-0).

Quarterback Marques Ivory led the Gamecocks (0-1), throwing for 193 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. He completed 23-of-38 passes.

Ivory started because Ryan Perrilloux, a transfer from LSU, was suspended for a violation of team rules.

It was their second loss in two seasons against the Yellow Jackets after never meeting in football.
