MLB: N.Y. Mets 6, Chicago Cubs 2

NEW YORK, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Omir Santos hit a two-run single in a five-run eighth inning Friday, leading the New York Mets to a 6-2 win over the Chicago Cubs.

Fernando Tatis started the rally with a pinch RBI single followed by Cory Sullivan's RBI single, the two-run single by Santos and a rally-capping RBI single by Anderson Hernandez.

Sullivan also hit a solo homer for the Mets, who have a modest two-game winning streak.

The winner was reliever Brian Stokes (2-4). Closer Francisco Rodriguez got his 29th save by retiring the final two batters with the bases loaded.

Jeff Baker led Chicago with three hits and one RBI.

Milton Bradley had two hits and scored on a ninth-inning error by Tatis, with Baker's eighth-inning RBI single creating a 1-1 tie for the Cubs, who have lost four of six.

The losing pitcher was closer Kevin Gregg (5-6).
