VAIL, Colo., Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Jesper Parnevik has had arthroscopic hip surgery and will miss the rest of the 2009 PGA Tour schedule.

Parnevik had the procedure done last week at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colo., by Dr. Marc Philippon, who has performed similar operations on Greg Norman and Peter Jacobsen, the golfer's representatives at IMG said in a release.

It is the second such surgery for Parnevik, who also had an operation in 2000.

"I'm excited to compete again injury free," Parnevik said in the statement.

Parnevik appeared in just 14 tournaments in 2009, making the cut five times. He is a five-time winner on the PGA Tour but hasn't won since the 2001 Honda Classic. Parnevik has won $15.2 million on the PGA Tour, ranking him 45th on the all-time list.
