Peter Hedblom leads KLM Open

ZANVOORT, Netherlands, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Peter Hedblom shot 6-under-par 64 Saturday to forge a two-stroke lead after 54 holes of the European Tour's KLM Open golf tournament at Zanvoort, Netherlands.

The Swede began the day in a tie for the top spot with defending champion Darren Clarke.

Hedblom's round included an eagle at the par-5 second, a bogey at the par-3 11th, and five birdies. His three-round total, 14-under 196, is lowest on the tour this season.

"The start I got off to calmed me down a little bit, and after that I started to feel really good," he told reporters. "If I can keep playing like this, I'll be very happy."

Peter Lawrie (65) is second at 12-under 198 and Clarke (67) is third at 11-under 199. Sam Little (63), Jamie Donaldson (66), Terry Pilkadaris (66) and Kenneth Ferrie (67) all share fourth place.
