HOUSTON, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Roy Oswalt allowed three hits over seven innings Friday and teamed with two relievers in a shutout, bringing Houston a 1-0 decision over Arizona.

The Diamondbacks opened a 10-game, four-city trip by losing their sixth in a row.

Oswalt (7-4) ended a steak of four straight no-decisions with a 100-pitch effort. He struck out two and did not walk a batter.

He gave up singles to Trent Oeltjen and Alex Romero to start the third, but escaped that trouble and then allowed only one other hit through the seventh.

LaTroy Hawkins worked a perfect eighth and Jose Valverde survived a two-out single in the ninth to grab his 19th save.

The game's only run came in the fifth, when Hunter Pence drew a one-out walk from Yusmeiro Petit (2-8) and scored on a double by Jeff Keppinger.
