MLB: Seattle 11, Tampa Bay 2

SEATTLE, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Russell Branyan hit a grand slam Sunday, capping the Seattle Mariners' 11-2 rout of Tampa Bay.

Seattle led 7-2 when Branyan's only hit of the game -- his 26th homer of the season -- produced the game's final runs with one out in the bottom of the sixth.

Franklin Gutierrez had three hits, including a two-run homer. Jose Lopez had three hits and one RBI, Mike Sweeney and Ichiro Suzuki had two hits and one RBI each, Michael Saunders had one RBI and Adrian Beltre added two hits for the Mariners, who won twice in the three-game series.

Winner Ryan Rowland-Smith (2-1) yielded two runs and six hits in 6 2/3 innings with four walks and six strikeouts.

Tampa Bay scored on Dioner Navarro's two-run homer in the second-inning. Jason Bartlett had two of the seven hits for the Rays, who have split their last four contests.

The losing pitcher was starter Scott Kazmir (6-7) , who allowed seven runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings, walking two and striking out three.
