MLB: Houston 2, St. Louis 0

ST. LOUIS, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Bud Norris and three relievers combined on a three-hit shutout Sunday in Houston's 2-0 win over St. Louis.

Norris (1-0), making his first major league start, gave up two hits in seven innings (91 pitches) with four walks and five strikeouts.

He started in place of injured Roy Oswalt, who has an irritated disk in his lower back.

Wesley Wright and Chris Sampson kept the Cardinals scoreless before closer Jose Valverde recorded his 12th save.

Miguel Tejada and Michael Bourn had one RBI apiece, while Tejada and Hunter Pence had two hits each for the Astros, who snapped a four-game losing streak.

Ryan Ludwick, Yadier Molina and losing pitcher Adam Wainwright each had one hit for the Cardinals, who have split their last four games.

Wainwright (12-7) surrendered two runs and eight hits in seven innings with no walks and five strikeouts.
