"We are pleased to add Kevin to our organization," Pittsburgh General Manager Neal Huntington said. "He … has the size and makeup to be a solid major league starter.

Gorzelanny, 27, a former starter, was 3-1 in a reliever's role and has a 25-26 career record.

Grabow, 30, is 20-15 lifetime, but 3-0 this season with a 3.42 ERA in 47 1/3 innings.

The Pirates also have dealt right hander Ian Snell, shortstop Jack Wilson and second baseman Freddy Sanchez this week before Friday's trading deadline.
