ARLINGTON, Texas, July 27 (UPI) -- Michael Young was 3-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored Monday to help the Texas Rangers beat the Detroit Tigers 5-2.
Hank Blalock hit a two-run double for the Rangers, who beat the Tigers for the first time since last September. Nelson Cruz had a solo homer and Elvis Andrus two doubles for Texas, which has won seven of its last eight games.

Winning pitcher Tommy Hunter (3-1) allowed one run on five hits in seven innings. Hunter has allowed just three runs over his last four starts.
Curtis Granderson hit a solo homer for Detroit.
Armando Galarraga (5-9) gave up four runs on six hits in a seven-inning start.
