Florida won its fourth in a row and remained tied with Atlanta for second place in the National League East, 5 ½ games behind Philadelphia.

The Dodgers overcame a 3-1 deficit in the sixth on a two-run double by Andre Ethier but the Marlins quickly regained the advantage in the seventh.

Reliever James McDonald (2-2) retired the first two men in the seventh but Cody Ross singled and Ronny Paulino drew a walk. Brent Leach replaced McDonald and Hermida came in to hit for right fielder Brett Carroll.

Leach missed the strike zone with his first two pitches before Hermida singled to right, bringing in Ross from second.

The Marlins tacked on two runs in the eighth on a solo homer by Chris Coghlan and an RBI single by Jorge Cantu.
