Davydenko over Ferrer in Hamburg semis

HAMBURG, Germany, July 25 (UPI) -- Nikolay Davydenko of Russia beat David Ferrer of Spain Saturday to advance to the final of the Hamburg Open.

The second-seeded Davydenko won 7-5, 7-6 (7-2) over Ferrer and will meet France's Paul-Henri Mathieu in Sunday's title match. Mathieu postes a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win over Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas.

Davydenko, a 14-time winner on the ATP Tour, had not gotten beyond the semifinals previously this year. He won three titles last year. Ferrer also has not won a tournament this year.

Mathieu has won four ATP titles, but none since 2007. He will appear in a final for the first time since last October when he lost to Dmitry Tursunov in Metz.
