PORTOROZ, Slovenia, July 24 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Dinara Safina was one of Friday's quarterfinal winners at the Slovenia Open tennis tournament in Portoroz.
The former World No. 1 easily beat Italy's Maria Elena Camerin 6-3 6-0, winning 56 of the 88 total points played and converting all of her five break point chances.
"I know she is a good player," Safina said of her Italian opponent. "(But) the key was (being) aggressive and not give her time."
Safina has lost a total of eight games at this event.
In other quarterfinals, Italy's Alberta Brianti was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over France's Camille Pin; fifth-seeded Sara Errani of Italy trounced Croatia's Petra Martic 6-0 6-1; and Switzerland's Stefanie Voegele rolled over Paraguay's Rossana de los Rios 6-1, 6-1.
Saturday's semifinals feature Safina vs. Brianti and Errani vs. Voegele.
Sunday's champion takes home a $37,000 winner's check.
