Two eighth-inning runs scored on errors, while Nate Schierholtz and Travis Ishikawa added three hits each for the Giants, who averted a four-game sweep.

Relievers Jeremy Affeldt and Brian Wilson both gave up one hit.

Atlanta's run scored on Yunel Escobar's second-inning homer.

Five others had one hit, but Chipper Jones went 0-for-4 for the Braves, who had won four in a row.

The losing pitcher was former closer Mike Gonzalez (3-3).
