"Being born and raised here in New York, East Harlem, you'd think Jets or Giants, but you were always aware of the Miami Dolphins and what (quarterback Dan) Marino was doing," Anthony said at a news conference in New York Tuesday, attended by his wife, fellow star singer and entertainer, Jennifer Lopez, and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

He has been scheduled to sing the National Anthem the Dolphins-Jets Monday Night Football game on Oct. 12 at Miami's Land Shark Stadium.

The National Football League is making the contest the centerpiece of its Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.
