MLB: Houston 7, San Diego 2

SAN DIEGO, July 2 (UPI) -- Geoff Blum hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs Thursday, keying the Houston Astros' 7-2 rout of San Diego.

The homer, Blum's second this season, gave Houston a 6-0 advantage with one out in the top of the fifth. He also hit a first-inning RBI single.

Lance Berkman had two hits and one RBI, while scoring three times. Carlos Lee had two hits and one RBI and Miguel Tejada and Michael Bourn added two hits apiece for the Astros, who have won six of their last eight games.

Winner Wandy Rodriguez (7-6) surrendered an earned run and seven hits in seven innings with two walks and five strikeouts.

Scott Hairston led San Diego with two hits and one RBI. Everth Cabrera drove in the other run, but no other batter had more than one hit for the Padres, who lost three times in the four-game series.

The contest was interrupted for 52 minutes in the top of the ninth inning when a swarm of nearly 2,000 bees gathered in left field near the foul line.
