Ramirez, Gaudin share NL Player of Week

NEW YORK, June 29 (UPI) -- Florida shortstop Hanley Ramirez and San Diego pitcher Chad Gaudin were named National League co- Players of the Week Monday.

Ramirez led the NL with 15 RBI and 22 total bases and tied for first with three home runs last week. The 25-year-old batted .385. He had a .429 on-base percentage with three doubles, two stolen bases and five runs scored. Two of his three home runs were grand slams.

Currently in position to be the NL's starting shortstop at the 2009 All-Star Game, Ramirez is averaging .333 with 12 homers, 51 RBI and 11 stolen bases this season.

Gaudin was 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA for the week. He held opponents to two earned runs and had 20 strikeouts over 15 innings. The 26-year-old had 11 strikeouts over seven innings in a win against Seattle and pitched eight scoreless, one-hit innings, walking two and striking out nine against Texas Sunday.
