Dye, Rivera co-AL Players of Week

NEW YORK, June 29 (UPI) -- Chicago White Sox outfielder Jermaine Dye and New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera were named Monday American League co-Players of the Week.

Dye led the major leagues with a .500 average (12-for-24) and 25 total bases this past week. He also had three home runs and six runs batted in. He had six consecutive multi-hit games en route to his sixth career weekly honor.

Rivera had three saves in three chances last week. He did not allow a run with six strikeouts. Rivera Sunday posted the 500th save of his 15-year career. He has 18 saves in 19 opportunities this season.
