Americans Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan had put the five-time World Cup winners in the two-goal hole but Fabiano scored just seconds into the second half and got his second at the 74th minute.

The victory was the Brazilians' second straight Confederations Cup title, and third overall.

The United States, playing in its first FIFA final, came into the tournament unbeaten in 96 straight matches when leading at the half since 1993. The Americans reached the final in Johannesburg, South Africa, by upsetting world No. 1 Spain 2-0 in the semifinals.
