MLS: Seattle 3, D.C. United 3 (tie)

SEATTLE, June 18 (UPI) -- Seattle's Tyrone Marshall put the ball into his own net in the 87th minute Wednesday, allowing D.C. United to tie the Sounders 3-3.

United faced a 3-1 deficit in the second half before Christian Gomez scored in the 63rd minute. Marshall then made the costly mistake that boosted United two points ahead of Chicago for the lead in the Eastern Conference.

Chris Pontius gave United the lead in the 34th minute, but Seattle then scored three straight times -- one of the tallies also coming on an own goal by United's Marc Burch.

That gave Seattle a 2-1 lead in first-half stoppage time, after which Fredy Montero scored his sixth goal of the season in the 57th minute to give the Sounders a two-score lead.
