ST. LOUIS, June 16 (UPI) -- Yadier Molina was 2-for-3 with a two-run single and two runs scored Tuesday to help the St. Louis Cardinals post an 11-2 win over Detroit.

Adam Wainwright (7-4) pitched seven innings of one-run ball, allowing six hits and two walks while striking out five for the Cardinals, who have won four of their last six games.

Skip Schumaker and Chris Duncan, who homered, each had three hits and an RBI. Brendan Ryan had a three-run double and Albert Pujols a solo homer for St. Louis.

Justin Verlander (7-3), unbeaten in his previous 10 outings, allowed five runs on eight hits in four innings. Brandon Inge and Miguel Cabrera had solo homers for Detroit, which has lost four of its last five games.
