SAN FRANCISCO, June 14 (UPI) -- An inside-the-park home run by Nate Schierholtz drove in three runs for the San Francisco Giants Sunday in their 7-1 win over cross-bay rivals Oakland.
Schierholtz lit up the hometown crowd in the third inning when his shot to right with two men on hit the wall and eluded outfielder Jack Cust, who was then late getting the ball in to the relay man.
Pablo Sandoval had a two-run homer while Matt Cain (9-1) turned in his third complete game of the season, holding Oakland to four hits and striking out nine.
Brett Anderson (3-7) gave up six runs in eight hits in four innings to take the loss.
Cust had staked the Athletics to a 1-0 lead with a home run in the first inning. San Francisco scored three runs in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly by Randy Winn and Sandoval's sixth home run of the season.
After Schierholtz made it 6-1, the Giants tacked on a final run in the seventh on a triple by Andres Torres and a sacrifice fly by Edgar Renteria.
