CHICAGO, June 10 (UPI) -- Justin Verlander went the distance for the second time this season Wednesday, throwing a six-hitter in Detroit's 2-1 win over the Chicago White Sox.
Verlander (7-2) won his seventh straight decision in what was Detroit's fifth victory in seven games. He struck out nine and walked only one.
The only run allowed by Verlander came on Jim Thome's seventh-inning homer. Chicago lost for the eighth time in 10 outings.
Adam Everett broke a scoreless tie in the sixth with his second homer of the season. Ryan Raburn drew a bases-loaded walk in the seventh to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
John Danks (4-5) took the loss despite giving up just the two runs on five hits in 7 1/3 innings. He struck out seven.
