Button wins in Turkey for sixth F1 title

ISTANBUL, Turkey, June 7 (UPI) -- British driver Jenson Button strengthened his hold on Formula One racing this year with his sixth 2009 victory in Sunday's Turkish Grand Prix.

Button slipped past pole sitter Sebastian Vettel and made it six wins in the seven European grand prix circuit events this season. He became the only driver in the first five Turkish Grand Prix to win from a position other than the pole.

Before this season, Button had won only one grand prix in 155 starts. This year, he has a 26-point lead in the world championship standings.

Button became the first Briton to win four consecutive grand prix since Nigel Mansell did it in his 1992 F1 championship season.
