FORT WORTH, Texas, May 28 (UPI) -- Texas Rangers owner Tom Hicks admits to "being open" to selling a majority share of the baseball team, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.
Hicks has been the American League team's principal owner for 11 years but in March he said he was seeking minority investors and Wednesday made his intention to sell firm.
"I am selling part of the Rangers," he told the newspaper before Wednesday's game Rangers-New York Yankees game. "I don't know how big of a part. Yes, I'd be open to selling more than a minority share, but it depends on who the partners are."
Earlier this year, he said he "absolutely" would not sell a majority interest despite complicated and ongoing financial hassles with a variety of business-venture lenders.
Former Rangers pitcher, hall of famer Nolan Ryan, and his longtime business partner, Don Sanders of Houston, could be potential buyers.
"Knowing nothing about what the details are, there's no way I can comment on any of this," Ryan said.
