PHILADELPHIA, May 28 (UPI) -- Philadelphia pitcher Brett Myers, who left Wednesday's game against Florida after 5 2/3 innings, said Thursday he will likely have to undergo hip surgery.

"It sounds like surgery is almost 100 percent from the first opinion," Myers told MLB.com. "They told me that my hip is (messed) up."

X-rays and an MRI exam Thursday revealed bone spurs and a possible tear in the labrum.

Phillies' General Manager Ruben Amaro said Myers will seek a second opinion from a hip specialist before any decision is made regarding surgery.

"It is possible that Brett will not make his next start," Amaro said. "That decision, as well as any decision on a possible disabled list stint or surgery, will be determined at a later date."

Myers left the game against the Marlins with what the team originally said was inflammation in the hip. He gave up seven hits and five runs -- three of the runs coming in the sixth inning as Myers could be seen wincing in pain.

He has a 4-3 record this season in 10 starts with a 4.66 ERA.
