HOUSTON, May 23 (UPI) -- Nelson Cruz hit a one-out home run in the 10th inning Friday and Texas, despite blowing a five-run lead, nipped Houston 6-5.
Elvis Andrus and Jarrod Saltalamacchia both homered for Texas, helping the Rangers build a 5-0 lead going into the bottom of the sixth.
Houston then produced a two-out rally in the sixth and got a three-run homer from Lance Berkman. The Astros tied it in the seventh on RBI singles by Geoff Blum and Michael Bourn.
LaTroy Hawkins (1-2) came on to work the 10th as the fifth Houston pitcher of the game and he got Hank Blalock to strike out opening the inning. Cruz, however, hit an 0-1 pitch out to right for the game-winner.
Texas broke a three-game losing streak, which had come on the heels of seven straight victories. The Astros have dropped two in a row.
The win went to Darren O'Day, who retired all five batters he faced. Frank Francisco, activated from the disabled list earlier in the day, collected his 10th save after giving up a two-out single in the bottom of the 10th.
