"Well, I'm obviously delighted with the outcome," Drummond said after Purtzer (72) fell out of the lead with bogeys on four of his last five holes. "I thought that was quite an achievement. My round today was a little bit up-and-down."

Drummond, a native of Shrewsbury, England, has played just three events on the European Seniors Tour this season and his best finish was a tie for seventh place.

Purtzer and Hoch were co-leaders after Thursday's first round.

Among those failing to make the 2-over 147 cut were Craig Stadler (148), Fuzzy Zoeller (148), Ben Crenshaw (149) and Lanny Wadkins (152).
