The Orioles put two runners on in the 10th without scoring, but broke through in the 12th after the first two batters of the inning had been retired.

Pitcher Danys Baez reached on an infield single against Kip Wells (0-2) and went to third on a ground-rule double by Brian Roberts. Jones then hit the first pitch he saw from Wells to left for his two-run double. It was his third hit of the game.

The win went to Baez (3-1), who worked two innings of relief. George Sherrill came in for the bottom of the 12th and earned his eighth save.

Washington managed only four hits and is one away from becoming the first team in the majors this year with 30 losses.
