DUSSELDORF, Germany, May 22 (UPI) -- Nicolas Kiefer and Mischa Zverev posted a dramatic win Friday to put Germany in the finals of the World Team Championship.
Germany will take on Serbia in the finals Saturday in a best-of-three match format.
Rainer Schuettler of Germany will meet Viktor Troicki in one of the singles matches and German Philipp Kohlschreiber will face Janko Tipsarevic. The contestants for the doubles match will be announced after the two singles matches are completed.
Germany won the Red Group in the round-robin phase of the event by defeating defending champion Sweden 2-1.
Kiefer and Zverev saved a match point in the deciding doubles match against Robert Lindstedt and Robin Soderling and then won the match 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 13-11.
Kohlschreiber defeated Andreas Vinciguerra 6-1, 6-2 and Soderling was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Schuettler in the singles.
Serbia finished unbeaten in the Blue Group with a 2-1 decision over Italy. Nenad Zimonjic and Viktor Troicki scored the deciding point in the doubles by downing Francesco Piccari and Andreas Seppi 6-0, 7-6 (7-5).
