MLB: Oakland 7, Tampa Bay 6

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 20 (UPI) -- Orlando Cabrera's two-run single in the fifth gave Oakland a five-run lead Wednesday and the Athletics held on to down Tampa Bay 7-6.

Oakland defeated the Rays for the second straight game after losing four in a row.

Tampa Bay fought back to get within a run in the eighth and the Rays had the bases loaded with two away in that inning when Santiago Casilla got Willy Aybar on a ground out to end the threat.

The Rays also put a runner on first with one out in the ninth only to have Brad Ziegler retire the next two batters and earn his fifth save. The game ended when center fielder Ryan Sweeney made a spectacular catch of a line drive off the bat of B.J. Upton.

Brett Anderson (1-4) benefited from the early offense to pick up the first victory of his major league career. He gave up three runs on four hits over six innings. Scott Kazmir (4-4) suffered the loss after surrendering seven runs on eight hits in 4 1/3.
