MLB: Philadelphia 4, Cincinnati 3

CINCINNATI, May 19 (UPI) -- Cole Hamels pitched six innings and Ryan Howard hit a solo homer Tuesday in Philadelphia's 4-3 victory over Cincinnati.

Hamels (2-2) struck out seven while yielding three runs on five hits in Philadelphia's fifth straight win. Brad Lidge allowed the winning run to reach base but closed out the victory with his eighth save.

Jimmy Rollins highlighted a three-run fifth inning for Philadelphia with an RBI double.

Jerry Hairston Jr. and Jay Bruce each hit solo homers for the Reds, who have lost four straight.

Johnny Cueto (4-2) gave up four runs on seven hits with no walks in seven innings. The right-hander entered the game with a 1.93 earned-run average, but lost for the first time in his last five decisions.
