ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 18 (UPI) -- Madrid champion Dinara Safina is still No. 1 in the world and tournament runner-up Caroline Wozniacki cracked the Top 10 in the women's world tennis rankings.

Safina beat Wozniacki 6-2, 6-4 in Sunday's Madrid Open final for her second tournament title in two weeks. She was a finalist in the tournament before that and is 14-1 in her last three events.

Wozniacki became the first Danish woman player to make the Top 10. She has three finals appearances -- one title -- in her last five tournaments.

Safina's back-to-back titles come after Serena Williams said that despite the rankings, which have her at No. 2, she is still the world's best woman player. Williams has been slowed by a leg injury and has lost her last four matches, including last week when the injury forced her to retire from a match.

Venus Williams is still No. 3 but Elena Dementieva switched ranking slots with Jelena Jankovic and is now No. 4.

Vera Zvonareva is sixth followed by, in order, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Ana Ivanovic and Victoria Azarenka ahead of Wozniacki.
