MLB: San Diego 5, Cincinnati 3

SAN DIEGO, May 16 (UPI) -- Scott Hairston singled in the go-ahead score during a three-run seventh inning Friday, rallying San Diego to a 5-3 victory over Cincinnati.

The Padres broke a six-game losing streak and won for just the fifth time in 24 contests. Cincinnati, meanwhile, dropped only its second game out of eight.

Cincinnati owned a 3-2 lead going into the bottom of the seventh, but the Padres got to starter Aaron Harang (3-4) for a run on three hits before Arthur Rhodes came in to relieve.

Rhodes walked Adrian Gonzalez to load the bases and Hairston singled home Brian Giles from third to put San Diego in front. A sacrifice fly by Jody Gerut boosted the lead to two.

The seventh-inning comeback made a winner out of starter Kevin Correia (1-2), who allowed three runs on five hits in seven frames.

Heath Bell put two runners on in the ninth before striking out Adam Rosales to end the game, giving him nine saves.
