ARLINGTON, Texas, May 15 (UPI) -- Ian Kinsler hit two of the four Texas home runs Friday and the Rangers survived a five-run ninth inning to defeat the Los Angeles Angels 10-8.
The wild victory extended the Rangers' winning streak to five and boosted their lead over the Angels in the American League West to 2 1/2 games.
Los Angeles starter Joe Saunders (5-2) came into the game with the fifth best ERA in the American League, but he gave up seven runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings.
Both Kinsler and Andruw Jones hit two-run homers in the third, Kinsler added a solo shot in the sixth and Josh Hamilton tacked on a two-run blast in the eighth.
Hamilton's homer turned out to be crucial when the Angels scored five times in the ninth against reliever Derek Holland.
Kendry Morales hit a three-run homer during the late outburst and C.J. Wilson eventually was called to the mound with five runs in, two out and a runner on first. Wilson walked Juan Rivera, bringing the potential go-ahead run to the plate. Howie Kendrick, however, grounded into a game-ending fielder's choice to give Wilson his first save.
The win went to Kevin Millwood (4-3), who allowed two runs on nine hits over six innings.
