MLB: San Francisco 9, Washington 7

SAN FRANCISCO, May 13 (UPI) -- Pablo Sandoval hit a two-out walk-off home run Tuesday that gave the San Francisco Giants a 9-7 win over the Washington Nationals.

Sandoval was down to his last strike against veteran Joe Beimel (0-2), who had retired the first two San Francisco hitters in the bottom of the ninth before giving up a single to Emmanuel Burriss and a walk to Edgar Renteria. Sandoval crushed a 2-2 pitch over the leftfield wall.

The three-run homer capped a three-hit night for Sandoval and gave the win to Brandon Medders (2-1), who faced two batters in the top of the ninth.

Washington's Ryan Zimmerman extended his hitting streak to 30 games while Nick Johnson drove in five runs, including three on a home run and two more on an eighth-inning single that gave the Nationals a 7-5 lead.

Bengie Molina homered for the Giants to make it 7-6 heading into the ninth.
