MLB: Atlanta 8, New York Mets 3

NEW YORK, May 11 (UPI) -- Derek Lowe won a pitching duel with Johan Santana Monday and the Atlanta Braves posted an 8-3 victory over the New York Mets.

Lowe (5-1) allowed two runs on five hits with two walks in 6 2/3 innings. Santana (4-2) also gave up just two runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings, lowering his National League-best ERA to 0.78.

The Mets bullpen allowed six runs in 2 2/3 innings. The Braves had successive two-run singles by Matt Diaz and Casey Kotchman in the seventh inning.

David Wright was 2-for-4 and Omir Santos drove in two runs for the Mets, who had their seven-game winning streak end.
