MUNICH, Germany, May 9 (UPI) -- Czech Tomas Berdych and Mikhail Youzhny of Russia were Saturday's semifinal winners at the BMW Open tennis tournament in Munich.

Berdych, the fourth seed, downed unseeded Jeremy Chardy of France 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, while Youzhny had to rally for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Germany's unheralded Daniel Brands.

The German had Youzhny on the ropes, but could not convert any of the four break-point chances he had in the eighth game of the third set.

"For me so far it's been a great week," Berdych said. "Everything's going well (and) I'm feeling great."

Youzhny managed to hold serve for 4-4, then broke his opponent's serve in the next game before holding his own to close out his tougher-than-expected victory.

Sunday's Berdych-Youzhny showdown will be their ninth career meeting.

Youzhny owns a 5-3 career advantage before the pair battles for a $95,000 champion's check on Sunday.
