MLB: Kansas City 7, Toronto 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 27 (UPI) -- Jose Guillen hit two home runs Monday to lead the Kansas City Royals to a 7-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Brian Bannister (2-0) allowed just one run on one hit in seven innings. Bannister, who pitched six scoreless innings in his first start of the season, walked six but retired 13 of the final 14 batters he faced.

Guillen was 3-for-4 with three RBI and Miguel Olivo had a three-run homer for the Royals, who won for just the second time in their last five games.

Loser David Purcey (0-2) gave up six runs on eight hits and three walks over five innings for the Blue Jays, who came into the contest with four wins in their previous five games.
