DAVIDSON, N.C., April 23 (UPI) -- Sharpshooting Davidson College guard Stephen Curry said Thursday he is entering the NBA Draft and will forgo his senior season.
During an on-campus news conference at the Southern Conference school, the 6-foot-3 inch Curry, the nation's leading scorer last season with a 28.6 points per game average, said he had struggled to make the decision for several weeks but will hire an agent.
"My goal since I can remember has always been to play in the NBA, and that goal has now become a viable opportunity for me," Curry said with his father, former NBA star Dell Curry, and his coach, Bob McKillop, in attendance.
"After weighing my options, I came to the conclusion that it is in my best interest to take hold of that opportunity now."
"As special as he has been for us, he will be just as successful in the NBA," McKillop said. "I have been fortunate to coach him these past three years."
