ST. LOUIS, April 22 (UPI) -- Rick Ankiel, who had three hits, doubled in the go-ahead run in the eighth Tuesday to lift St. Louis to a 6-4 win over the New York Mets.

Yadier Molina also had three hits and Albert Pujols had a two-run double for St. Louis.

Jason Motte (1-1) got the final two outs in the eighth for the win and Ryan Franklin retired the Mets 1-2-3 in the ninth for his third save.

Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran and David Wright each had two hits and an RBI for the Mets. The loss went to J.J. Putz (1-1), who gave up two runs in one inning.
